Our Future: Local Chapters

The next growth of ALMA will be the formation of local ALMA chapters so that the benefits of ALMA can be brought closer to home.

Local Chapters Bring ALMA Benefits Closer to Home

We recognize that lab managers are not always able to attend the annual ALMA meetings and that even if they can more frequent opportunities to network with peers would be beneficial. As a result during the past two years a number of ALMA local chapters have been established to bring the benefits of ALMA closer to home.

Active Chapters

Local chapters are now active in the following locations:

  • Delaware / New Jersey / Pennsylvania
  • Houston, Texas
  • Chicago Area
  • Maryland
  • Ohio
  • New England

Typical Meeting Format & Topics

At the local chapters analytical managers meet at a host company’s site a targeted three times per year. Typically participants in the local chapters are located within a reasonable driving distance to the meeting to attend a mid-morning to mid afternoon meeting with only one day or partial day out of the office. Agendas usually consist of a two to three discussion topics followed by a lab tour or continued discussion in a roundtable format.

Topics from recent local chapter meetings have included:

  • Best Practices in Knowledge Management,
  • How to Run Your Analytical Department as a Business, and
  • Measuring Customer Satisfaction.

Feedback from attendees has been very positive and the local chapters are thriving.
